Mr. Robert J. Schultz

Bob Schultz retired as vice chairman and board member of General Motors Corporation in 1992, after a 37-year career. As vice chairman, he was responsible for GM Hughes Electronics (GMHE)—which included Hughes Aircraft Company and Delco Electronics—for Electronic Data Systems, and for GM's Corporate Information Systems. Serving as chairman and CEO of GMHE, he was also responsible for GM's Technical Staffs Group. Prior to that, his automotive career included work at Oldsmobile, GM's Emission Control Project Center, Buick, Delco Electronics, and Chevrolet–Pontiac–GM of Canada Group.
After retiring from GM, he became a member of the board of directors of OEA, Inc., in 1993, and chairman in 1998. OEA was a provider of explosively actuated devices for the aerospace industry and was a leading supplier of airbag inflators and initiators for the auto industry until its acquisition by Autoliv Corporation in 2000. In 2002, Schultz became chairman of a start-up company, Advanced Electron Beams, Inc., which uses its proprietary electron-beam technology to build and market unique electron-beam systems for advanced manufacturing processes and environmental control.
Schultz was Elected to the National Academy of Engineering in 1992.
